Muneer began his Middle East career in professional practice in Muscat, Oman, with Dearden Farrow, Avais Siddiqi & Co. He joined Arthur Andersen when the firm took over the Muscat practice of Dearden Farrow, Avais Siddiqi & Co, following Dearden Farrow’s merger with BDO Binder Hamlyn. At Arthur Andersen, he served as Senior Manager from 1988, managing the firm’s Muscat office, and was promoted to Principal in 1994, relocating to Dubai, a position he held until 1998. During his Arthur Andersen tenure, he led numerous large audit, tax and consultancy engagements for multinational corporations and major regional groups – including the Halliburton Group, Citibank and Occidental – with industry coverage spanning hospitality, trading, construction, banking, oil and gas, and manufacturing. He also conducted special reviews of leading Omani banks for the Central Bank of Oman and carried out company valuations and acquisition due diligence.
Muneer established Beaufort Associates as a mainland practice in Dubai on 1 January 1999. Following the launch of Dubai Internet City, he reconstituted the firm as a free zone entity, Beaufort Associates FZ-LLC, from 1 October 2000, and has led it as Managing Partner since its foundation. During this period, he has personally led numerous advisory assignments – including business valuations for acquisitions and management buy-outs, financial and operational due diligence, the design and implementation of financial policies and procedures, the restructuring of ongoing business activities, improvement of management information systems, and feasibility studies and business plans for new ventures.
Through Beaufort Associates, Muneer has also been seconded into senior in-house roles for major UAE groups during periods of transition. These engagements have included Group Chief Financial Officer assignments at the AW Rostamani Group and Ahmed Ramadhan Juma Sons Trading Co., and a Chief Financial Officer assignment at Tech Access. He has additionally acted as an outsourced delivery partner for Big 4 accounting firms on selected large engagements.
Also through the firm, Muneer served as Senior Tax Manager for CBI Eastern (CBI Eastern Anstalt), part of Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I) – the global engineering, procurement and construction contractor and a world leader in industrial storage solutions for the oil, gas and energy sectors. In that capacity, he managed tax compliance and advisory matters across the MENA region – including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt – and across Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, and assisted in resolving a number of long-outstanding tax cases with the relevant authorities.
Muneer’s client base spans a broad cross-section of industries – including hospitality, trading, construction, banking, oil and gas, manufacturing, real estate development, financial services, technology and professional services – with engagements ranging from owner-managed family businesses to subsidiaries of multinational groups. He brings a strong commercial perspective, an in-depth understanding of the UAE regulatory and business environment, and an established working knowledge of the Federal Tax Authority and other UAE regulators.
